Software License Agreement

1. License Grant

SYM.BOT grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use:

• MeloMotion (web application) — credit-based payment
• MeloTune (iOS application) — subscription via Apple App Store
• MeloMove (iOS application) — subscription via Apple App Store

All rights not expressly granted are reserved by SYM.BOT.

2. Open Source Software

The following are open source under the licenses indicated:

Apache License 2.0:

• SYM (Node.js reference implementation) — @sym-bot/sym on npm (current: v0.4.0)
• SYM Swift (iOS/macOS reference implementation) — Swift Package Manager

MIT License:

• sym-mesh-channel (Claude Code plugin) — @sym-bot/mesh-channel on npm (current: v0.2.0). The plugin submission was reviewed and marked Published through Anthropic’s Claude Plugin Directory submission process on 2026-04-18; public-registry propagation is pending.

You may use, modify, and distribute these under the terms of their respective licenses. The following remain proprietary: trained neural models (SVAF, xMesh), training data, training procedures, and product-specific integrations.

3. Mesh Memory Protocol Specification

The Mesh Memory Protocol (MMP) Specification is published at sym.bot/spec/mmp under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). The current version is MMP v0.2.3 (April 2026); reference paper: arXiv [MMP_PAPER_ARXIV_ID], cs.MA primary + cs.AI cross-list.

You may:

• Share, adapt, and build upon the specification for any purpose, including commercial use
• Implement, extend, and deploy systems conforming to the specification

You must, per CC BY 4.0 §3(a):

• Identify SYM.BOT / Hongwei Xu as the specification author
• Preserve the copyright notice: © 2026 SYM.BOT, CC BY 4.0
• Include a URI or hyperlink to the source specification (https://sym.bot/spec/mmp)
• Indicate if the Licensed Material has been modified (implementation deviations from the specification)

License termination (§6): The license automatically terminates on any breach of its attribution requirements. If the breach is cured within 30 days of discovery or notification, the license is reinstated.

Published extensions:

• The MMP Consent Extension v0.1.0 was an archived specification. It was published on sym.bot/spec/mmp-consent on 28 March 2026 and withdrawn from current publication on 21 April 2026. Authorship record and specification content are permanently preserved via Internet Archive Wayback Machine snapshots — see IP & Attribution § Authority records.

Academic citation of MMP, SVAF, and archived extensions is permitted and encouraged; see IP & Attribution § Canonical citation formats for copy-paste citation blocks.

4. Proprietary Technology

• MeloMotion is powered by proprietary AI style transfer and generation technology owned by SYM.BOT
• MeloTune and MeloMove are powered by Mesh Cognition — proprietary cognitive intelligence architecture owned by SYM.BOT
• Trained SVAF models (per-field evaluation) and xMesh models (per-agent LNN) are proprietary
• Users receive no rights to the underlying trained models except through normal use of the applications or open-source SDK

5. AI-Generated Content (MeloMotion)

• Images and videos generated using MeloMotion are your property
• You may use generated content for personal or commercial purposes, subject to applicable laws
• You are responsible for ensuring input images do not infringe third-party rights
• Generated content is stored for 7 days, then auto-deleted
• SYM.BOT retains no ownership of your generated content

6. Restrictions

You may NOT:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the proprietary applications
• Remove or modify any proprietary notices or labels
• Attempt to extract or access the trained AI/ML models from the applications
• Share your account access with others
• Use automated systems to abuse the service

These restrictions do not apply to the open-source software (Section 2), which is governed solely by its Apache 2.0 licence.

7. Intellectual Property

• Trademarks of SYM.BOT: Mesh Memory Protocol, MMP, Symbolic-Vector Attention Fusion, SVAF, SYM, Mesh Cognition, MeloMotion, MeloTune, MeloMove
• All application code, designs, and user interfaces are copyright © 2026 SYM.BOT
• Specification text is CC BY 4.0 (Section 3 above); reference implementations are Apache 2.0 / MIT as indicated (Section 2 above)
• Cognitive data on your device (emotional learning, mesh memories) remains your property

8. Third-Party Services

• MeloTune integrates with Apple Music and Spotify
• Apple, Apple Music, and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.
• Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB
• Music content remains property of respective owners
• SYM.BOT is not affiliated with Apple or Spotify

9. Privacy & Data

MeloMotion: Images and videos are processed in the cloud, stored for 7 days, then automatically deleted.

On-device: All emotional learning and cognitive state processing happens locally on your device.

Mesh data: When connected to the SYM mesh, the following data is exchanged with peers: cognitive hidden state vectors (h1, h2), structured memory signals (CMBs gated by SVAF evaluation), and mood frames (valence, arousal). Raw events (L0) never leave your device. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

Relay: Internet relay nodes forward encrypted frames between peers. The relay does not inspect or store payload content.

10. Payment

• MeloMotion: Credit-based payment via Stripe
• MeloTune/MeloMove: Subscriptions via Apple App Store
• SYM and SYM Swift: Free and open source
• Refunds handled per respective platform policies

11. Termination

• This license is effective until terminated
• You may terminate by deleting the application/account
• We may terminate if you breach this Agreement
• Upon termination, access to proprietary applications ceases immediately
• Your rights under Apache 2.0 and CC BY 4.0 survive termination (they are irrevocable open licences)

12. Warranty Disclaimer

Applications are provided "AS IS" without warranty. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Open-source software is provided under its respective licence without additional warranty from SYM.BOT.

13. Limitation of Liability

Our liability is limited to amounts paid in the 12 months prior to any claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

14. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Scotland. Disputes are subject to Scottish court jurisdiction.
